Poverty:Zone 0

Devastation, homeless, famine and thirst. For all these, we can conclude that in our world there isn’t a balance. Some people live in enormous palaces surrounded by luxury of all kinds and others in hoods without a ceiling surrounded by dirt and chaos. If balance exists, poverty wouldn’t make little children drink stagnant water from a river covered with rubbish since he hasn’t enough basic needs or resources to have clean water, so I can tell that this photo represents perfectly the Zone 0 about poverty.

With a deep look, the boy in the picture and th background tells us that he lives in very bad conditions, that he is forced to go to the dirty river to fill a plastic bottle with its water. The black boy is wearing a woolen, white jumper that seems very old and filthy. He is also wearing some blue shorts and a pair of enormous, muddy shoes. As he is wearing this clothes, we can deduce that he can’t affort clothes in a good condition. However whan we look at the boy we get impressed, the most stunning thing in the photo is the background since it transmits us a feeling that I would describe between sorrow and rage. We can notice that the little river in the photo is a kind of container for the people who live there. Can you imagine how did the story before happened for reaching the point we are seeing? Because I can’t. It is unvelibable that a poor child of 6 years old (aproximately) ended up going to a devasteted river only to have water.

Thirst, at the point to drink bielged water, with ground, with used plastics that nobody wants. The lack of basic resources concludes in chaos, and the boy in the picture knows it since he is living in that chaos now. We should be doing something to fix that, but this is a problem that a single person can’t do it. The image above should never have been taken, because the action that is happening should never happend. As I said; sorrow and rage.
